چکیده

Abstract Molybdenum-99 ( 99 Mo) is a parent radioisotope of Technetium-99m 99m Tc) widely used in nuclear diagnostics. The production this by PT. INUKI generated radioactive fission waste (RFW) that theoretically contains 239 Pu and 235 U, posing proliferation risk. This paper discusses the determination radionuclides inventory RFW proposed strategy for its management. was calculated using ORIGEN 2.1 code. input parameters were obtained from one batch Mo high enriched uranium INUKI. result showed contained activation products, actinides, including U. then consideration management RFW. concentration U reduced down-blending method. to further manage down-blended converting it 3 O 8 solid form, placed canister, eventually stored interim storage high-level located Radioactive Waste Technology Center.

Photo-fission for the production of radioactive beams ALTO project

In order to probe neutron rich radioactive noble gases produced by photo-fission, a PARRNe-1 experiment (Production d Atomes Radioactifs Riches en Neutrons) has been carried out at CERN. The incident electron beam of 50 MeV was delivered by the LIL machine: LEP Injector Linac. The experiment allowed us to compare under the same conditions two production methods of radioactive noble gases: fissi...

Future Alternatives to Molybdenum-99 Production for Medical Imaging

Up until recently, Canada produced approximately half the world’s supply of molybdenum-99, and the US imported approximately 50% to 80% of its supply from Canada. In 2008, there were no facilities in the US manufacturing molybdenum-99. Global efforts to reduce the proliferation of nuclear weapons and deter terrorism are believed, in part, to account for the lack of medical isotope production fa...

Disposal of Radioactive Waste

Perhaps the most important single problem arising from the increasing use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes is how to dispose of the growing amounts of radioactive waste. Many of its complex aspects were discussed at the scientific conference on the disposal of radioactive waste held by IAEA in Monaco from 16 to 21 November 1959. The conference was organized jointly with UNESCO, with the c...
